The Victorian Government has recently announced a Circuit Breaker Action Business Support Package to provide financial support to eligible businesses that were impacted by the recent five-day snap lockdown.
A summary of the different support packages available to eligible businesses is as follows:
Business Costs Assistance Program
This payment is designed to assist with costs incurred by businesses as a result of the circuit breaker action. Examples include the loss of perishable food or cancelled bookings.
Businesses with an annual payroll of up to $3 million that have incurred direct costs as a result of the circuit breaker are eligible for a one-off payment of $2,000.00.
Full eligibility criteria and program guidelines will be published soon.
Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund – Circuit Breaker Action Payment
Businesses that received a grant through the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund will receive a further payment of $3,000.00. Businesses do not need to apply for this payment and will be contacted by Business Victoria with further information.
Businesses that receive this payment will not be eligible to receive the corresponding grant from the Business Costs Assistance Program.
Victorian Accommodation Support Program
This package is designed to support accommodation providers whose bookings were cancelled due to the circuit breaker action.
Tourism accommodation providers are eligible for this grant if they can demonstrate booking cancellations between Friday 12 February and Wednesday 17 February.
Tier 1 of the grant applies to providers experiencing 10 or fewer cancelled nights and provides a payment of $2,250.00 (excluding GST).
Tier 2 of the grant applies to providers experiencing 11 or more cancelled nights and provides a payment of $4,500.00 (excluding GST). This program will open soon. Eligible businesses can register their interest here.
Travel Voucher schemes
A travel scheme with 40,000 vouchers to support travel in greater Melbourne will launch soon.
The Regional Travel Voucher Scheme will also be expanded with an additional 10,000 vouchers to support travel in regional Victoria. These vouchers allow recipients to claim reimbursement if they have spent $400.00 or more on a minimum of two nights paid accommodation, paid tours and experiences or entry fees to regional attractions.
