Update: Clarification of Non-Essential Retail, Gaming Machine Areas, and Seated Service requirements

Further to our update yesterday morning, we confirm that the updated directions from the State Government have now been published on the DHHS website.

To confirm the key advice for the weekend, we confirm that:

1. Staff and patrons of non-essential retail (including pro shops and bottle shops) are not required to be fully vaccinated from 6:00pm today.

2. Gaming Machine Areas Victoria-wide have re-opened however gaming machines are required to be spaced by 1.5m or have every second machine switched off. A density quotient of DQ4 also applies to the gaming machine area. Obviously this is particularly disappointing

3. As a further note, it is confirmed that the ‘seated service’ requirement for hospitality premises does not apply in outdoor areas. This means that indoors, patrons must remain seated unless they are ordering, entering or leaving, or using the bathroom. Outdoors patrons can freely stand, mingle, and even enjoy outdoor dancefloors. Outdoor areas are subject to a density quotient of DQ2 and a cap of 500 per venue.

We wish you all a good weekend of trade, and we will provide a further update on the new directions next week.
