The State Government has today announced additional business support for the extended period of lockdown, as follows:
Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund and Business Costs Assistance Program
An additional payment of $4,200 will be made to eligible recipients of the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund. This brings the total payment to $7,200 for eligible recipients in this most recent lockdown.
An additional payment of $2,800 will be made automatically to eligible recipients of the Business Costs Assistance Program. This brings the total payment to $4,800 for eligible recipients in this most recent lockdown.
Businesses that received these payments in relation to the May/June lockdown will receive these payments automatically without needing to apply further.
Businesses that did not apply for these support programs in relation to the May/June lockdown, or that were ineligible to apply then but are now eligible, will be able to apply to receive those payments shortly. This limited application process is not yet open, but the Government do not believe it will include many businesses, as they are confident that all businesses that are eligible were included in the previous application process and they have therefore automatically received these payments.
Please consult the Business Victoria website for further information.
COVID-19 Disaster Payment
The Commonwealth Government have confirmed that the vast majority of microbusinesses, being turnover of less than %75,00 per annum and not registered for GST, will be eligible for the COVID-19 Disaster Payment.
Payments under this program are $375 for each relevant period for individuals who have lost between 8 and 20 hours of work per week or a full day of their usual work hours per week, and $600 for individuals who have lost 20 hours or more of work.
The Victorian Government will establish a concierge service to help businesses access this support.
Alpine Support Program
Alpine hospitality, retail, accommodation and experience operators that were eligible for previous grants of up to $15,000 under the Alpine Support Program will receive an extra $3,000 payment. This is on top of any entitlements under the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund or Business Costs Assistance Program.
Impacted Public Events Support Program
Eligible public events and public events suppliers affected by the lockdown will receive support of up to $25,000 and $10,000 respectively through an extension of the Impacted Public Events Support Program.
Eligibility criteria and application information available on Business Victoria’s website has not yet been updated to include the current lockdown. We expect that eligibility criteria will correspond with that of the May/June lockdown.
Payments in relation to the May/June lockdown are available for businesses with registered Tier 1 or Tier 2 public events with more than 1000 attendees that have incurred non-recoverable costs as a direct result of lockdown restrictions by an amount exceeding the grant value. Payments are also available to public events suppliers.
Businesses operating impacted public events will be invited to apply for the program. Applications can be made through the form link sent by Business Victoria to the eligible public event or nominated supplier. Applications are currently open until 11:59pm on 23 July however we understand this will be extended.
Live Performance Support Program
A new round of the Live Performance Support Program has been announced, with funding of up to $7,000 for presenters and up to $2,000 for suppliers.
The information available on Business Victoria’s website has not yet been updated to include eligibility criteria and the application process for the new round of payments.
In relation to the May/June lockdown, eligible presenters could apply for up to $7,000, provided they have not received funding through the Business Costs Assistance Program Round Two or Licensed Venue Hospitality Fund 2021. Suppliers could apply for $500 per event up to a maximum of 4 events, being a total payment of up to $2,000.
We expect full eligibility criteria and information about the application process for the new round of this support program to be provided soon through Business Victoria.
Sporting Clubs Grants Program
A new round of the Sporting Clubs Grants Program will provide $2,000 grants for eligible community sport and active recreation organisations for events that been unable to proceed or will have to be cancelled or postponed.
The information available through Sport and Recreation Victoria’s website has not yet been updated to include eligibility criteria and the application process for the new round of payments.
Payments available in relation to the May/June lockdown were available to Victorian sport and active recreation organisations with a payroll of up to $3 million, to compensate for irrecoverable costs greater than $2,000 arising directly from the cancellation or postponement of events during the lockdown.
This funding was only available to organisations that are not eligible to seek funding from the Business Costs Assistance Program.
We expect that further information about eligibility criteria and the application process in relation to the current lockdown will be provided soon through Sport and Recreation Victoria.
The Victorian Government today stated, following questions from reporters, that there are no announcements to be made about rent relief at this stage, but it does seem to be under consideration by the federal government.
