Update: Regional Victoria Lockdown, changes to some Metropolitan Industry and Childcare

As a result of mystery cases in the Shepparton area and exposure sites in Bendigo, the Premier has announced today that Regional Victoria will go into lockdown as and from 1:00pm today, Saturday 21 August 2021. The lockdown will apply until 11:59pm on Thursday 2 September.

A table of changes to restrictions is attached.

The restrictions in Regional Victoria will be the same as those that are currently in force in Metropolitan Melbourne, except that the curfew between 9:00pm and 5:00am will not apply.

This includes restrictions on reasons to leave the home, the 5km travel radius, and closure of hospitality, gyms, entertainment facilities, play centres and other such premises consistent with the current restrictions in Metropolitan Melbourne.

Childcare Centres

There will also be a state-wide change to use of childcare centres, which will now be able to be accessed only by children of authorised works who cannot be supervised at home.

We understand that the same permit system that was in place during Lockdown 2.0 will be implemented again with further details to follow.

Metropolitan Melbourne changes

The Premier flagged changes that will be made to deemed high-risk industries, including abattoirs and meat processing facilities. The additional obligations will include workforce limits and changes to testing requirements.

Further details will be announced in due course.
