Update: Victoria’s lockdown extended for a further 7 days

The State Government has today announced that Victoria’s lockdown will be extended for a further 7 days, until Tuesday July 27 at 11:59pm.

Further Business Support

The State Government announced on Friday that businesses that have and will receive payments through the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund and Business Costs Assistance Program relating to the May-June lockdown will receive new support payments of $3,000 and $2,000 respectively. These payments do not need to be applied for and the Premier confirmed this morning that those payments have already been made to eligible businesses.

Further business support for the extended period of lockdown will be announced tomorrow.

We note that currently there have been no announcements federally or at a state level in relation to any further rent relief.

Support for Workers

The following payments are currently available to Victorian workers who lose work during the lockdown:

  • Payments of $600 are available to individuals that lose 20 hours or more of work during the period of lockdown; and
  • Payments of $375 will be made to individuals that lose between 8-20 hours of work during the period of the lockdown.

There is no liquid assets test for these payments.

Workers can access these payments through their my.gov accounts. As always our office will monitor changes in the situation, provide further updates, and address any queries you may have.
